I was so happy about him winning gold in the Olympics. Its been so long since Hazley Crawford for us to win gold and in the most unlikely of sports. Do we even have a place for javelin throwing here?
Keshorn made Trinidad and Tobago proud. He has been performing extremely well in different competitions so really it shouldn't be a shocker that he won a gold medal. Congratulations to Keshorn and his Toco village!
The javelin event is a virtual unknown in Trinidad & Tobago. This should be incentive for the government to place emphasis on sports outside the basics like running, cricket, and football - there are many other sports out there that Trinbagonians will be able to excel at if given the opportunity.
It's always good to hear the national anthem played at an international event like the Olympics. Apparently Walcott made history too as he is the second non European to win Gold in the Olympic Javelin after 60 years, the first being American Cy Young who won the gold in the same event in 1952.
I was watching the post interview with Kershon Walcott talking about how he felt and he is very humble about it. He really didn't think he would win a medal but he owed it to his coach who believed in him and told him to relax and make it happen.
