a. They probably are all mixed up with what they saw
b. They are mixing up a falling star or other natural happening with a UFO
c. I want to believe but its hard

A and B with a smattering of C, adding in quite a few "They're lying/embellishing/BS-ing". Some are just pretty blatant. But I've had friends that simply have no interest or reason tell me of some experiences. So I believe some people see such things, whatever they are. It is their nature - that is where the mystery is.
