Being Afraid Of Good Fortune
Name: Karen
Comments: Is it possible to be so pessimistic that you are literally afraid of good fortune and anything positive that comes your way? Does this condition have a name?
I don't know if the condition has a name, I don't even know if it is a 'condition' however if you're gong through a hard time or you're clinically depressed anything good that happens in your life you won't see it in the same light than the rest of people.
It's not a condition. I believe it's basic social engineering.
There are many outlets that tell us constantly that we do not deserve things. Right Wing politics in the United States has a strong basis in this idea. If you didn't craft it, think it or directly participate in the origin of something then you do not deserve it no matter how it might benefit your life.
Right Wing politics in the U.S. Strongly believes in a social Caste system based in Capitalist ideals. Money is God. Michael Parenti, in his book Democracy for the Few, talks about the disenfranchisement of the majority of Americans from the political system and how money impacts their ability to participate in their own government. This begets a great deal of pessimism here in the U.S. Regarding our country and our place in it. The U.S. has become run by business interests that serve themselves, not the people, and encourages cutthroat and immoral behavior to "get ahead" at the expense of others.
Stick with me here...
