Your First Computer

The reason the question is used with the word 'interactive' is to indicate the difference between an atari system and a computer that can input data. I am talking about the computer that enables you to key in data.

I got my first computer about 8 years ago. It was a third hand compact, and it was given to me. My family was complaining that I wasn't keeping in contact with them often enough. (Could not afford the long distant charges) So this computer was mainly for emailing. Which I did ~ they turned me into an email monster :-->

I am on my third computer. The second one was a second hand compact that I bought from a friend. This one is a hp pavilion 511n. It was the best I could afford at the time, and it is/was new!

I have progressed from just emailing, to writing letters, to learning MS Excel & Word, surfing the net and joining my first (and only) forum.{{I have found a family and I'm not going to go anywhere else}}

Your First Computer Gaming Video & Issues Computer

I had a Commadore 64. I used it to play games, but it was truly a computer. Unfortunately, the "language" needed to use it was more complex than I could deal with at the time.

Then I eventually got a used IBM PC. Shortly after that I bought my first. It was a pentium 75. Brand new, so you get an idea of when this was. I had two of those, to practice networking. Then I moved up to a Pentium 333, 7 years ago when it was top of the line. I still have this PC, but I rarely use it. I use my work laptop. My son uses the old 333. Now, my office has sent home a brand new PC for my use at home. They maintain ownership, but I am free to treat it as if it were my own. It is a Pentium IV, 3.30 GHz. I am not bragging. I am blessed.

Well I'm definately old enough to remember the commadore 64/128,and the
Apple IIc (we briefly learned on those in grade school). :-->
But as for my first PC it is/was a custom job,basically a packard bell that has been worked over.It was a second hand computer from my inlaws. But at the moment it has technical difficulties(The cd rom can not read any discs),so we are borrowing a Micron with a pentium(just pentium),its really slow and we are soon going to upgrade(with the price of PC's dropping so fast it wont take long)

My first PC was a generic, bought-it-at-the-geek-show, 33 MHz IBM clone. The hard drive had a grand total of 128 MB. Did you read that correctly? That's not a typo... 128 MegaBytes on the hard drive, 33 MegaHertz processor, 2800 baud modem . This was back before Windows was invented, and everything ran on DOS or UNIX, including the Internet and chat rooms. What a great time that was .... 1990? Those were the days. I later added a second 540 MB HD, later upgraded the processor to 66 MHz, later I even upgraded the motherboard... I still have it, but I don't use it much. There are some really cool games on there that only run on DOS that my son enjoys, still.

Then I bought another geek-show built computer, 333 MHz, 3GB HD WIN95 14.4 modem, etc, when I was in Tennessee -- my mom has that one now so we can email etc, she never uses it for anything else.

This 'puter is 533MHz, 15GB HD, WIN2KPro. Had it about 4 years I think. Time to upgrade

Your First Computer

My first real computer was a TSR-80 Radio Shak 64k extended computer with external floppy 5 1/4" drive. Yep, it was real fancy in those days. I was around 12-13 I think. After that I had an Apple IIC and then went on my mission. When I came back I did not get involved in computers for years until Dec 1998 when I got a used IBM PC1 25 mhz. I now have a 1000Mhz duron with 30 GB HD, and 640 MB memory. I have had it for a little over two years and do not see any reason to upgrade at the moment as it is very fast.

Offtopic but, I have a huge inventory of older original games that would like to put up for sale, anyone interested? Many of them are still brand new. I brought them to Trinidad to sell, but no buys originals here - all piracy -->

well, it wasnt MY computer, twas the family computer. but I was the very first person on the internet!! They put it up, and i went to Disney.com (cuz it was the safest place a 12 year old could go)

But i JUST got my own computer this year. Im 17.

Your Computer Computer Issues & Video Gaming

My first computer was an IBM Aptiva 100MHz P55 with 16MB RAM and a 14" monitor. It had Windows 95 preloaded at the time. For a first computer it was very nice, and at the time top of the line. My aunt bought it for me as a gift for doing well in my high school exams (CXC's for those who are familiar with it). I learned most of the basics that I know from tinkering with this computer. Last time I checked it was opened up and exposed in a box in my basement. I did have a use for it a couple of months ago when I fried my power supply on my new pc. I used the power supply from the old Aptiva to make sure it was the power supply that was broke and not something else.
