Eating Human Feces, Dung And Drinking Urine?
In the book of Ezekiel 4:12-13 the Lord said:
QUOTE |
"And thou shalt eat it as barley cakes, and thou shalt bake it with dung that cometh out of man, in their sight. And the LORD said, Even thus shall the children of Israel eat their defiled bread among the Gentiles, whither I will drive them." |
QUOTE |
"But Rabshakeh said unto them, Hath my master sent me to thy master, and to thee, to speak these words? hath he not sent me to the men which sit on the wall, that they may eat their own dung, and drink their own piss with you?" |
Ezekiel, I think, is referring to the way something is cooked as opposed to eating it. Baking with dung was largely used to make fire as it was easy to come by and usually flammable. I don't know this for sure obviously, but thats how I interpret it.
The verse in 2 Kings is talking about eating poo obviously and I don't have a good reason for that. Its rather gross that a master would send his servant to eat poo and drink piss with someone. But then, the Bible is full of all kinds of gross stuff that we can't understand. Ew!

Comments: He was talking to someone else that had gone to do this.

Comments: The true subject in this text is talking of defiled bread, let,s look at Isaiah chapter 4 verse 1. it teaches that 7 women take hold of one man. These are churches that want to follow their traditions. instead of the truths of god that are written.the number 7. Means that they were perfected by god. Then decided that they loved their ways more. if you think of it in this way. You begin to see why there are so many that disagree on the bible.

I will try to stay course with thoughts on this but I might babble so please bear with me.
In this book Israel has fallen from grace. They are in majority sinning. Our Ezekiel is Godly and has been summoned by the Lord as the tool to put his people back in line.
Ezekiel has warned the people to stop sinning and he has taught them Gods law again. Now God has told him to silence his tongue and let all stand for judgment based on their heart and deeds.
He is to siege the city and is told specifics things to do to to do this. One is to eat the specific breads with human fecal matter on it then later cow dung. This is to show the people of Israel that even in doing so Ezekiel is pure as he has followed Gods word. He also has enough substance to maintain him for just around a year in the siege. Israel how ever will run low in water and food and eat nothing and be thirsty in the end. Also they will be persecuted for sins even though they are eating pure foods and will fall ill as they are disobedient to the Loads word and laws.
So the human dung and cow dung eating at is to show that if you are obedient to the Lord you will not get sick as he has purified you through your obedience to him.
At least that was the jest of it that I got. Any thought on that take?
I will have to study this a little more before making a fool of myself on here.
What I did get from reading the passages is that they were sinful people who sat on the wall and ate what god considered their own feces and drank their own piss. If he was going to join them he would have to do the dame.
I can see our god commanding something to be done to show that you will follow his word without question. In this you can prove to him that you place all your trust into him and his power.

Comments: Seems about right. The problem with this verse is that it's so easily isolated and taken out of context. In the start of Ezekiel 4, God is speaking (warning? prophesying? I don't) of a punishment the son of man will have to bear *including* consumption of excrement. ...I think, anyway.
