Real Estate Issues

Name: Paulette

Comments: I'm in the education field and with a annual salary of $36,000 I hardly qualify for a loan for a half descent home. How is one supposed to survive in America when you can't even afford to buy a home? I pay more rent now than it would cost to buy a home.

I feel it for you. Teachers are underpaid in this country, heck they're ridiculously underpaid and yes right now you have no other choice but to rent. Do you qualify for things like food stamps? It could help you a bit.

Paulette sorry to hear about your situation I never truly understood how educators are so badly paid in this country, unless you get a second job or look for a really cheap home, I really don't see a solution to your predicament.

It is a tough situation. I think that the only way out is a miracle, however there is another way but many do not like that approach... Its a total lifestyle change. Not that you spend less or anything like that but it mostly comes down to relocating in a place where you can start fresh and able to live more free. Sometimes we are captives of the place we live in. In another area we might get a better job, be able to afford a better home, etc.

We must focus on the working poor:

New analysis of the most recent U.S. Census American Community Survey by the Working Poor Families Project shows that the number of low-income working families in the United States has increased to 10.4 million in 2011, up from 10.2 million a year earlier. Ref. Source 5
