This was a stupid movie. Julia Roberts' character has been best friends with a man for many years (they had a sexual relationship in college, but decided they did better as friends). They made a pact that if they did not find anyone else to marry by the time they were a certain age, they would marry each other. So just before she turns that age, he calls and says he's marrying someone else, and it makes her realize, or maybe just believe because she suddenly CAN'T have him, that she loves him and wants to marry him. So she befriends the other woman only to sabatoge her and undermine the new relationship -- rather than just coming right out and telling the guy she loves him, and accepting whatever answer he has for her. She does some horrible, underhanded things that CANNOT be forgiven. And then expects the guy to just fall all over himself to dump the NICE girl to get to her.
There were some funny scenes, but all in all a bad premise, and really out of place foul language. Carmen Diaz absolutely STOLE this movie with her performance, she was a doll!
In my opinion, a D.

Cameron Diaz was the best actress on this movie. I agree with Farseer in her review. It is good that in the end the guy end up with Diaz than with Roberts. It was just a comedy, VERY Hollywood type, mix of comedy, love and happy ending, nothing impressive.
I thought the actor who played the gay friend (something Rupert I believe) stole the movie. He provided the much needed humor in a bad movie. Cameron Diaz' character was too bubbly and gullible, and she finally got a wake-up call at the end. Not Julia Roberts' best movie by any stretch of the imagination. 1
