Is This Real?

Is this fake or real? A computer than runs on ram and flash memory only?

The first Super-BIOSâ„¢ (IBPT) and PuRamâ„¢ Technology featured personal computer configurable WITHOUT a System Hard Drive with all operating system and program files permanently sitting a on a Flash RamDisk. It operates at the speed of the maximum available memory bandwidth up to 8.0GB/s and is capable of over 150,000 I/O requests per second, with an average of 0.0% CPU utilization. No Hard Disk design, not even 15.000RPM SCSI devices in multiple RAID cofigurations can come close to providing a fraction of the real-world performance of PuRamâ„¢ Technology.

Real Is

This is a great concept but until the price drops significantly, I cant see how anyone would be able to afford it. The price range is from $4000 - $7000 US. This is outrageous for a PC. Plus we will have to wait and see how the PuRam Technology holds up in terms of reliability and recoverability.

Is This Real? Gaming Video & Issues Computer

It is actually a great concept. I built a solid state computer a few years ago as a project machine and it is actually still running today. It doesn't allow me to do very much however. It is running windows 3.11, and I have IE and word on it only. Internet seems to run a bit slow due to the fact that saving temporary internet files just isn't an option. Word seems to work very well but I have to use a floppy disk or network storage to save anything. But I do have to say I haven't run into a virus that could infect the OS. Only makes since doesn't it. Great concept and it boots in only 17 seconds which is impressive for any 486DX66. I would like to try it with a newer machine and OS but unfortunately building a solid state ROM large enough to put anything of real value in today's world just isn't an easy think to think about.

Good luck to all, it's where techonology is going.
