The two sisters who were reported missing on Saturday after they disappeared during an outing to Trincity Mall are alive and well.

Christine Seegolam, 13, and Crystal Seegolam, 14, of Tenth Street in Five Rivers, reportedly contacted their parents and police respectively yesterday and declared themselves to be "fine."

The girls" father, Jairam Seegolam confirmed that Christine, a Form One student of the St Charles High School in Tunapuna had called his wife, Mary, at about 9.30 am while the couple were at the Arouca Police Station.

Jairam said Christine denied she and her sister had been kidnapped, as she indicated she was alright and he would have come to meet them at the police station.

Allegedly refusing to reveal her whereabouts or who she was with, Christine said she and Crystal were in separate locations.

I read in the papers today that these girls were before a Judge and he sent them to St. Jude's! I just couldn't believe my eyes when I read that. What's wrong with this judge? Did he make sure these girls aren't being abused? One of them run away like 4 times already...what kind of society we live that people cannot see that kids who are happy at home do NOT do these things!

Comments: Why did you not consider the fact that the magistrate (not judge) listened to the history of the matter before coming to her (not his) decision? We should be more respectful to persons in authority and not just perpetually exhibit negative attitudes.

Quen, listening to the story means absolutely nothing and respect for authority doesn't mean I have to agree with the Magistrate.

These kids obviously have issues. Running away like 5 times is beyond comprehension. I'm sure there is more to this story but yet again, I'm not surprised at the feedback I'm reading online that says we should straighten these girls out by giving them licks. Some people even celebrating the fact they were sent to St. Jude. rolleyes.gif Ah...you have to love our people and their ignorance, fixing everything with violence.

I agree with Lydia here. These girls have issues but what kind? Why is it that they keep running away? Why the judge didn't send a team to investigate the matter at their home?

Comments: Please stop blaming the parents for the girls wrong doings. Stop living in denial. This is the new generation of youths. If they are being abused as some of you suggested, don't you think now is the right time for the girls to speak out. When they are being questioned about running why they don't want to answer. Isn't blaming the parents is an excuse for them too get away free. I highly doubt thats the case. Is so much a parent can do. St Judes is the rightest place for them. Let them see what this life is like. I bet they would never run away again. [..]

Singh here (as well as other posters and most of our beloved people) seems to believe happy children run away from homes all the time, it's really funny (in a weird and unbelievable kind of way)and of course they're "spoiled" "they need licks" "where is the belt?" "let the system straighten them up" are all the voices of a generation who grew up with licks and of course they say they turn out "just fine" (funny enough, most of the time they're aren't what I call an example of good citizenship at all).

Imagine, we are in 2011 and we still believe as a society that the best way to deal with children is by beating them. No wonder the rest of the world see us so backwards because we truly are.

Like someone said on this thread, happy kids don't run away from home for no reason, no matter how much the child beaters (or supporters) here try to spin it. I also agree with the fact that the Judge should have investigated the parents and the circumstances these girls were living.
