Comments: (1)Spence never said that arrests depend solely on witnesses. Scientific methods, keen powers of observation and other means such as closed circuit cameras also lead to arrests. However, no one can deny that one of the most common tool used in criminal apprehension is the human eye and ear. There are more than 25,000 civilians to 1 police officer in T&T. Isn't it then more likely for a civilian to witness a crime than a police officer? I believe that Spence is referring to that, if these witnesses do not come forward, no arrests could be made.
(2)Please remind me of which police officer and when was it said that police knew who the gang leaders were and what they were up to. I remember someone else making similar remarks Not the police.
Guen I'm not sure about the police knowing gang members eh but take for instance the case of the man that was shot in hilo St. Augustine....it's alleged that the police said the man was a known "pest" involved in gang activities and drugs. Really? Known? So how come the man was free?
Today TV6 news said a police officer was arrested in connection with a shooting of a 30 something year old man...all because of a woman. Come on people, I appreciate the hard work eh but don't expect congratulations from the media, it ain't happening.
This is what I'm talking about. First the police officer that apparently killed a guy at his home in front of his own child and now TWO cops held for assault and robbery in Couva. Disappointing.
