Investigators said at about 1 am yesterday, Andre Lopez, 52, was at his home in Maturita, Arima with his four children when they reportedly heard the assailants attempting to gain entry by breaking down the front door.

As he faced the intruders, all armed with cutlasses, Lopez demanded they leave his house. The men threatened Lopez and demanded that he pass over all of his valuables. Officers said Lopez reportedly resisted the men and a scuffle ensued. All three men then started to chop Lopez who screamed in pain and begged for help.
