Here is a silly issue I see happening. We cut back our usage they just reduce the pump to control the market price ad we are soon back to where we were but no way to cut back further to allow the price to drop. So I think we will see even higher prices in the future then ever once this recession is over so 2 years from now I bet we push 130 per liter or around 4.30 a gallon in the US and never see it drop.
After all what is the cost to keep the oil rig standing and the refinery doors open? That cost must be met and the stock holders expect huge returns on this time. How will that happen if oil usage is reduced? Increased price per barrel.
Also why did the cost of plastic bottles not sky rocket and why is this industry not pushed to use glass or other things to reduce the oil usage? I say it is because it is in the back ground and the Automobile industry is coughing up the extra price hikes for them.
Though In Ontario many cities are looking to ban individual bottles of water bulk only. Too much garbage being produced and battles not getting recycled.

I believe that oil prices will moderate soon. I doubt that they will go below $50 a barrel. I believe that the oil companies are going to try to keep us dependant on oil for as long as they can. I do hope that this past year was a huge wake up call for most of Americans. Now maybe we can get an alternate fuel that will take the oil company out of the picture and stop us from producing so much pollution by burning the fossil fuels.

Despite the Somali Pirates taking an oil tanker hostage the future Oil reading at top only has a +0.11, well that is good. I guess everyone just sees this as a slight delay and everyone is losing their job and house so who cares scenario.

I doubt that we would allow them to stop a few oil tankers. I am sure that we would step up the protection of just not the gulf area but that part of the indian ocean as well to make sure the oil tankers are able to navigate past this now called dangerous water.
