I have laid in a bit of dry goods flour rice and such. Have put in some meat as well as It has been on sale most of the spring. We just topped the dollar a liter again, looks like another kick in the crotch for a stumbling global economy.

Funny I read a report done by and independent research facility and it plotted based on the growth rate of the late 80's and they figured 2045 would be the price peak for oil and the point where the field will start to be considered running out.
I think this is a political move to try and drive people into thinking more seriously about electrical cars (A even bigger mistake in my opinion.) and alternative fuels.
Here is why; you claim shortage now you can decrease production driving the price up as the electric Hybrids start full production. Oil companies lose no revenue and they are now the ones doing the R&D in the electrical car which was feasible over ten years ago. I think it is the Air Quality political pressure that is driving this whole mess in the direction it is going.
On a positive note sugar might be a new fuel source and would boost the economy for some of our poorer countries.
