[camp] Gold Mine - Page 18

Okay, we're into the second level, and now we have the rails and ore carts. Shall we take a little ride (that can be dangerous) ? Or walk the tracks (maybe more dangerous...) ? In what order?
=============================================
Pondering this new situation, Althea chews thoughtfully on her lip. "Well, we could all load into one o' them carts and see if we can ride on the tracks for a bit, see where it leads us. Then again, once it got rolling, how would it stop?"

She peers down the tracks. "On the other hand, if we walk the tracks farther into the mine, what if someone comes rolling down in a cart? What say you all?"

Yes! lets go for it. I can be first, with my spear. I can stab things at a distance and use the butt of the spear to slow us down.

Well, I never thought I was cautious by nature, but apparently, I am. smile.gif

Ice, says, "Sokei, let's get that canary down there and make sure it is safe us. Then if it is, let's take a close look at that cart. It could be booby trapped you know."
===================

Then, I think we should be careful with that cart. Then let's look closely at the cart. Does it have brakes or any other controls we can use? Let's push the cart and see how much noise it makes. Yes, we have already made much noise, but we don't want anyone to know exactly where we are with every move me make, now do we?

It's going to be noisy, no doubt about it. They aren't meant for stealth but for work. But we should see how easily it will move. Only two can ride in it at a time. Maybe we should just walk the tracks. We'd have to have one person pushing, one person "on point" with a torch and in defense mode. We could probably trade off as those pushing and walking get tired.

On the other hand, we could just walk the tracks in party order formation and see what we can see.

I think we should just walk the tracks. We don't need the cart. We aren't planning to mine for gold so much as take what we can find, right? If we find we need the cart, we can come back for it. If we find more gold than we can carry, we would have no way to get it back home after leaving the mine, so I see no real purpose in the cart.

================================

Ice says, "I vote we follow these tracks and see where they lead us." Let's keep our eyes open for booby traps as we go."

Elda thinks for a while.
"I agree with Ice. I think we should walk the tracks. If they do have more than one cart on this set of tracks, it would either be being pushed ((ooc: which the gm made it sound like would happen)) which wouldn't pose much of a threat either way or going fast so that even if we were using the cart, the people behind and in the cart would surely be greatly jolted at least. I do not see much point in using the cart."
***ooc***
That ^ thing changes everytime I do this. Well, my ic pretty much said it all.

O.K. This time, I say we take the torch with us. It might come in handy and there isn't any reason to hide the fact that we are here. Anyone that enters the way we came is going to see the damage done to the trap door and know someone has been here.

As far as the lever, I am not sure. Again, I would be cautious. Let's keep in mind what we are after. We came for gold. Is it really very important we know what that lever does? Maybe, maybe not. If we don't find the gold, we could always come back to the lever.

===========================

Ice says, "well, well, well, what do we have here? Someone has been kind enough to leave us with a torch to light the way. "Let's check for booby traps and then one of you who doesn't have a torch, might want to take this with you. If not, I will put it in my pack for later. We probably don't need to light them all.

Also, let's take a closer look at this lever. What do you suppose it does? Anyone have any ideas? If not, maybe we should just leave it alone and continue looking for our gold.

Which way should we go? In order to avoid getting lost we need to make a plan now. For example, we should always follow the same wall. In other words, always bear right or always bear left. Eventually this will bring us through the entire mine and back to the place we started."

i agree, we have almost assuridly lost the element of surprise. I think we should have brung the cart because when we get the fgold we will be carrying it for quite a whle, it would have come in handy. We should try to keep quiet though, becase it lessens our chance of being ambushed.
Sokei use his spear to throw at enemies and draw his sword.
