[camp] Gold Mine - Page 19

I'm thinking the lever is for switching directions on the tracks -- I am not sure it has much to do with us if we are just walking and not riding? How about a "closer inspection" of the lever and the tracks -- are there tracks heading to the left through the opening? If there are, that may be what the lever is for; if not, then I don't think we need to test the lever smile.gif

I agree with direction -- always head to one direction or the other, but try not to zig zag. And agree we take the torch for later "just in case"

I agree with the inspection of the lever and tracks. If we can't figure out what it does, we should take the torch and move on. Wow. I almost posted the exact same thing that tenaheff just said. I agree with that too. We should probably post a party order saying that we inspect the lever and tracks if everyone agrees so the GM doesn't get too ansy.

O.K I don't care if we go straight (which would be hugging the right wall) or left, but once we decide then we need to follow this plan for all future "rooms" that we encounter. So, if we decide to go into this "room" we will then be always hugging the left wall and only taking left turns. If we decide to not go into this room, we will be always hugging the right wall and only taking right turns.

===========================

"So, mates, what's it gonna be left wall or right wall for the remainder of our journey in this mine?"

Hmm... I say go left. Whichever way we go, shouldn't we throw a rock or something to check for traps? Then have a thief go first checking for traps? Also, I might not be able to post for a few days. Should be back by Friday. Try to go on without me, I know it'll be so difficult. tongue.gif

Okay, I need to disagree for a minute. I don't think investigating a room to the left is the same as taking a left turn, because we will come out eventually and continue to the right. If it were a tunnel going left, and not a room, then I'd say keep going right.

Otherwise, I agree with tossing a rock or two down the new openings to see if anything happens, and to continue on the north track once we've investigated.

Investigating a room to the left works the same way. If you always follow the left wall (or the right) you come back out because once you get to the end of the room if you keep the wall you your left if brings you across the back wall and up the way you came on the opposite wall. Unless we can see the end of the room, we don't know if it is a room with an ending or another tunnel. In which case we will get lost. If we decide to go into the room and there are other rooms off of it, what would we do? If we go with the always go left option, we will continue through all rooms or tunnels down this way and find our way back where we started and could then investigate all rooms and or tunnels at the next left, etc., etc., until we reach wind our way back to the entrance. This way we are sure we have investigated every room and tunnel in the mine in a systematic way without going around in circles or getting lost.

However, if the majority don't want to do it that way, my character will disagree, but follow the majority's decision. Ice will then grumble if we end up lost. smile.gif

I am not sure I would toss rocks into the room. Do we want to alert anyone in advance that we are coming? As long as we have torches to see, we should be able to visibly check for traps. Of course, maybe we don't care about alerting them because we have our torches lit and they will see them anyway, so if you all feel more comfortable tossing the rocks. That is fine with me.

Added after GM's recent new post to the scenario:

Ice says: "What the heck is causing that?!?! I think we should forget about this room and investigate where that gust of wind came from. It seems to have come from straight ahead."

O.K. I think it is a mistake to continue exploring in two separate groups. If we encounter others, we are more likely to survive if we are all together than 2 at a time. Both of these areas sounds like they need to be explored. I think we need to keep in mind we still could become lost so we need to be careful.

I think we should go down the hole in the room first. Althea and Sokei should come get Elda and Ice. Meanwhile Elda and Ice should start walking back to meet them. Then let's go explore the new "hole and what lies beneath. Of course if you all would prefer to skip that and follow the "breeze" I am fine with that too. However, we would need to squeeze in on our hands and knees because it is only big enought for the cart so it seems best to me to explore the other area first. Whatever we decide, I just think we should all be together as we progress.

===========================

Ice says to Elda: "Let's shine our torch in that opening in the wall and see if we can see anything. Then I think we should head back to meet Althea and Sokei and see what they have found." Once we know what all we are facing we can decide what to explore first."

===============================

When you post, in order to muli task you can post what I just said ( or whatever we agree upon as a group), then state that we will report what we see and unless it is something incredible we are going to discuss with each other when we meet what to do, and we will decide to explore what Althea and Sokei have found.

We need to do it that way because at the moment neither group "knows" what the other found so even if we decide which way to explore in our post we need to "Play" as though the characters are going to discuss it and then decide. We shouldn't need two posts to do it though. We should combine them. However, if our looking with the torch gets a response from the GM that is really intriguing we want to be able to change our minds.

I agree with your comments, and will post that way. Since you and I seem to be the only two left actually "playing" for the moment, I think our consensus is enough to move forward on.
