Oh this guy is gonna be a pain in the neck... I'll give him mine. This does not bode well for traveling.
=======================================================
The map shows nothing too dangerous south of the village. Maybe it's near the foot of the mountains? We need to ask specifically what the markings are that the map shows.
========================================================
"Aw, hush, ye griping jolthead," Althea scowls at Horde. "Worse'n an infant, you are. Here, take a drink of this, but don't gulp it all down at once. Save some some for later. This stuff costs more than you're worth, lad." She hands over her ale skin to Horde, and hovers nearby to collect it once he's had a swig.
"May take us a day or two traveling to get to this place. What are these markings here?"
===================================================
I don't need anything from the market. But we should probably check to see if we can pick up a couple of ale skins cheaper there.
I am not so inclined to give him more ale right now. Maybe we should say something like "you have already had a drink, if we are going to search for this gold mine, your ale needs to be rationed or it will all be gone in one day."
I don't care if he doesn't come, I don't see him as much help, but more a problem. What happens when we run out of ale halfway through the trip?
Of course, what happens if we tell him no more ale, he leaves us and then goes and tells others of our quest?
I think FarSeer is definately right about checking the market to see if we can get skins of ale cheaper or skins of wine.
Then we need to decide what to do about Horde, I will go along with whatever the majority decide, my vote is no more ale right now, save some for later.
Then check the market for cheaper wine or ale and head off towards the mine.
Hm, first ask gM about more specific points on the map, then to the market we go. Anyone need to buy anything? AH We need a bird cage, and a bird at the market. I suggest tenna you get that, since you have the most amount of money. We are going into a mine, and the canary can sense gas/or poison. I'll have to look how much but its cant be that much money. Thats all for now.
(1gp for cage, 1gp for canary)

O.K. I am willing to buy the bird cage and bird, but maybe some one else can carry it. I already have a lot of gear myself to carry as a warrior. Perhaps Horde can carry it since he is so strong. If not, any other voluteers?

The map is simple, it merely shows a certain forested area 25 miles to the South that has an underground mine. It should not be too hard to find because of certain markings that were set by the map's creator. You hope that the markings are still where he or she left them. You wonder if this is real |
What to do about Horde? I like the idea of telling him that he's had enough today and letting him know that he will need to ration it.

I think he is telling us to look for markings along the way that match what is on the map so the we can find the mine. |
FarSeer is right about the adamant part, so whatever you think is best. I am just concerned about getting him in a mine shaft somewhere with no ale.
As far as how we know what markings to look for on the map, we don't need to know. All we need to say is we are lookng for the first markng on the map. However, I am not opposed to asking about it in party order. My experience is that it will be either ignored or dismissed, so there is no real harm, I suppose.
Fun hasn't been in over 24 hours, I'm going to post in party order so that we don't get slammed with something bad by the GM -- he's already got it raining on the map!
1. Find shelter so that the ink doesn't smear
2. Study the markings and what are they specifically
3. Buy a bird and a cage in the market
4. Give Horde ONE DRINK of an ale skin
5. Begin travel plans. Anyone got a tent?
