Well my kids (twins)are not 5 or 6 years old anymore. They are 12 years old and very active. What am I going to do with them for two months?
I am now unemployed an living on a strict budget.
I know for sure, " Things they are not going to do."
They are not going to spend all day sleeping.
They are not going to spend all day on the computer and play video games.
Watch television all day.
I decided to plan our week. What are we going to do Monday - Friday, Saturday will be family time and Sunday Church etc., the weekends are full.
I live on an acre with a large vegetable garden
I told them two days of the week we are going to get chores done, chores we could not get done while I was running them to all their practises.
There would be rewards for doing them.
Some of the rewards are 30mins on the computer and an hour on video games. I also added a couple more rewards to it.
One day will be going to the library and whatever errands we can get done.
The other two days we are going to find places to go where it is not going to cost us an arm or a leg and maybe no money at all, we will pack our drinks and lunches.
We live in a very Historic State
My kids were so very excited.
So here are some ideas we came up with.
We can go to Washington DC, most of the places do not charge a fee.
Fishing and hiking at some of the parks.
There is an area where can go called Casade Lake where they can go swimming.
It is very reasonable.
So my message is, kids need structure, you are the adult, let them know it. I know you would have a great memorable summer with your kids.

Thanks, they are getting so big, and all I hear is how bored they and bored kids tend to get into mischief.
