Panasonic (LUMIX)

This one from Panasonic (LUMIX) is pretty good for graduating from the basic point and shoot to the world of DSLR's. I am not sure how "professional" you are looking to go, but this one at just around $500 let's you get a good camera and a lot more capability before you decide if you want to upgrade even further. I haven't found a need to yet for what I take pictures of.
