Dutch Parliament Passes Ritual Slaughter Ban

The bill, which must still pass the Senate, bans the slaughter of animals without stunning them first, removing an exemption that has allowed Jews and Muslims to butcher animals according to their centuries-old dietary rules. Jewish and Muslim groups say a ban would infringe on their right to freedom of religion.
