The Costa Rican team has the nick name Los Ticos. But then, most Costa Ricans call themselves that. It means little brothers or sisters (ticas). But their team appears to be every bit as friendly as the natives are to tourists.
Their teams talent was not equal to their hospitality this year however. The team suffered its worst finish in the World Cup ever. They finished 31 of 32 teams. While they didn't make it past round one in the 2002 World Cup either, they did finish second in the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2002.
