I don't know if you all have a thread about it but this is for Spence who seems to think the media is just making it up and the truth is that you have more than just a couple of incidents involving police officers. IF this is true, shame on those officers!
Name: Zing
Comments: If the allegation is true then the offenders deserve to be put before the courts. It is good that other branches of the police have detained them and are investigating. However that the offenders felt able to act in such a manner whilst members of the police says potentially bad thin gs about the culture - what is it that made them feel they could get away with it. A major cultural change programme is needed consisting of many aspects... Including review of professional standards, selection, recruitment, discipline procedures, leadership etc - so that the good officers of which there are probably many - feel prepared to stand up and be counted.
I agree with Zing. I think as long as there is transparency (and not cover up because they happen to be police officers) we're on the right track. The problem becomes a serious one when other officers feel the need to defend them.
