Very simple game where there are 100 squares and you roll six sided dice to get to the top. If you land on a ladder it moves you up, if you land on a snake it moves you down. So simple, but so fun... loved it as a kid, what about you?
Yes, I loved this game as a child myself. Today it is known by the more politically correct name of Chutes and Ladders. I guess Snakes eating kids was too gruesome or scary, so they replaced them with chutes. I always loved it when I got to go up the big ladder; I think it went from 26 all the way to 86. Of course there was always the big snake that dropped you all the way back to the bottom. Loads of fun!
Yeah, I remember this game too. We had one of the Chutes and ladders version though. It was very fun when I was little, but I can't say it was my favorite board game. I think my favorite board game was trouble, but thats an entirly differant story...
I never got to play Snakes & Ladders. I think it came out after I was too old to play it. I will admit that I recently found an online version and just for spits and giggles I had to try it. It was very cute and lots of fun, I really wish I had been able to play this as a kid, I would have loved it. When I was a kid I played games like Mouse Trap, Sorry and Operation.
This was the best game when I was younger. I still enjoy playing it with my younger brothers and sisters who are now in high school whilst enjoying the sun, at the beach.
My wife is a teacher at a primary school and last year they did a unit on "games of the past" and the favourites were 'snakes and ladders' and 'knuckle bones' and 'pin the tail on the donkey'.
My nephews got a 3m x 3m snakes and ladder floor game for christmas in which they were able to move themselves around the board game.
Love that game!!
I used to play Snakes & Ladders at my Grandparents house, it was reasonable, there were pictures on the squares though showing bad things happening on snakes (stealing/falling and hurting self) and good things on ladders (doing chores/getting money for doing them). I thought it was cool, but it gradually got dull.
Snakes and ladders is probably the easiest game on earth. No strategy to it at all just roll dice and hope you don't go down the snake.
