Ealdstan Introduction

Hello all,

I found this site by looking for online text based rpg's. I was first introduced to role playing games when I was ten (that was a long time ago) with the game Runequest. I've since branched out into most of the major rpg's systems like D&D, Palladium, and White Wolf. I've always had an intense interest in ancient and medieval history (I've accumulated a sizable library on the subject), so I really enjoy combining my two interests of role-playing and history.

One of my other areas of interest is linguistics. I've studied four ancient languages: Latin, Greek, Hebrew, and old English. In fact my screen name is an example of that. Ealdstan is Old English for 'Old Stone'. I'm currently looking into learning modern Spanish. I already have some familiarity with it and would like to increase my proficiency.

I'm looking forward to exploring the possibilities of this online community.

So, Ye be seeking Adventure eh? Ye be one after meh own heart. Meh mates have cut down several dragons in times past and we be always in serious need of an extra hand fer deeper darker dungeons of brilliant gold. Friend, get ready, cause we got to test yer abilities.

Here's the FIRST one: If ye be looking to get started with Dungeons & Dragons Play by Post then go D&D Rules for the Thread that gives you the steps (Check first Post) D&D here allows you to start participating right away once your character is approved by the Dungeon Master.

Note: One of the adventurers wrote this helpful "how to" down fer thee, do have a read over of it eh'.

Here's the SECOND one: If ye be looking to join 'The World of Medieval' (Custom Play by Post) then thou needest a minimum of 30 Constructive Posts within this here Community. Keep thy level of activity at 75% too, we be needed active adventurers here not those that sit and play with child toys. Get started, select a Board, a Topic and then share thy views until ye have yer 30 Posts under thy belt then return here and request RPGer Status.

Welcome dude. Are you here to really be into serious RPing or just passing through because I've seen loads of guys like you join up but couldn't handle the rules or posts and then end up going silent. We need some dedicated characters in our group so if you can handle the commitment that will be so cool.

(laugh). Welcome, and you'll have to take some things with a grain of salt here. The site really does get quite a few signups and players that fizzle out, so some of the players tend to get pretty jaded, but there is a solid group of core players on the site and many role-playing games, both Admin and player run, so come on in and check out everything, and make sure to check out the links given out by Horde above!

Thank you for the welcome. I'm definitely interested. I understand the skepticism. Its no problem. I have a question. Is there a thread that I can take part in on the medieval board without interfering with any ongoing games? I would really like to get my thirty posts in and start actually playing but I'm not sure where I can do that.

Hi Ealdstan! By "medieval board" you are talking about the World of Medieval? If so this is what Horde said above:

You cannot go into that Board without those requirements.

If you mean the Member Wars board then you can participate in Threads there at anytime so long as you meet the GM's requirements or you can start your own adventure.

If you are just looking for threads to reply to get in your posts then I suggest you look at the RPG Review board, Source 2 or other boards here that have your interest. I hope that clears it up for you.

Dude you're taking your time. We're going to be leaving for East city soon so you need to join us at some point. Plus have you did any scifi role-playing before?
