LDS, why do you need a good light breakfast "besides fresh fruit?" Fresh fruit can be quite filling. I find if you eat a grapefruit each morning it really helps to keep hunger away. I usually have a grapefruit and an orange every morning around 9:00 and this holds me over until lunch.
Well why not just eat another piece of fruit at 10:00 when you are hungry again. If I find I am hungry in the morning after I have eaten the orange and grapefruit, I just have an apple or a pear. I make sure to bring more fruit with me than I expect to eat. That way I always have enough.
Yes, I will do that thanks for the suggestion. I started carrying with me a small container of food, so I don't eat so much because of the stress but rather because I'm hungry. Just a month to go and then vacations for two months.
I decided to revisit this topic because I had gotten away from eating just fruit for breakfast and what I have come to realize is my digestive issues came back. Not immediately, but they are now fully back after several months of not being careful to only eat fresh fruit for breakfast. So, I have decided to go back to just eating fruit in the mornings.
I had gotten away from it because of time and also because I couldn't get the kinds of fresh fruit I most enjoy through the winter months. It either wasn't available or wasn't as good.
Well, I think I just need to force myself to make the time to gather fruits in the morning to take to work and will just need to learn to eat other fruits during the winter. There are plenty of apples available all winter long, but I am not a big fan of apples. Oh well, I will just have to adjust because there is no doubt that I am healthiest when I choose to eat nothing but fresh fruit before noon each day.
I've spent years skipping breakfast, but have recently started eating a yogurt and a banana, and am feeling a lot better for it.
I used to be really hungry by 12pm before I started eating breakfast, but now I find when it gets to 12pm, I now eat a smaller meal. I don't feel light headed or sick either. It's not that I don't like breakfasts, I just find it too over facing unless I've been up at least an hour before hand. I'm now finding with eating the yogurt and banana, it's not too heavy, but has a natural sweetness about it.
I really believe now that it's better to eat this than miss breakfast out altogether.
For a few years I have omitted breakfast until 1200, using the concepts from a book called ‘Lean Gains’ by Martin Berkhan. I gain weight easily, and by a simple eating habit change, alongside lifting weights, have managed to keep svelte. I was unable to keep weight down, whilst lifting, before the breakfast omission. I still have three large meals a day, they’re just later. The advantages carry over to less hunger, and greater willpower against thoughtless snacking, which translates to money saved from not buying from cafes or restaurants when in towns.
