Comments: Man, I really enjoyed reading this thread. I obliviously don't have a opinion because every new post, I would agree with it.
Well I heard one of the prophets say (just paraphrasing) that he's never been to a boring Sacrament meeting. Because he was being taught by the Spirit and not the speaker. But then again just like new converts are not ready for deep doctrine. Some members are not spiritually ready for that 10 min sacred experience. Just like little kids in Sacrament.
I remember going to General conference and my mum would tell me to listen and learn and I would always say to myself, "this is so [edit] BORING when's this gonna end?" but once I became a missionary, General conference was like going to the movies for me. It was a treat that I only got 4 times in my mission. So yeah, to be honest, I'm still kind of sitting on the fence, or if it were possible. I'm like on both sides of the fence.

Right on, and to the point, my own observation as well. Nothing can supplant coming unto Christ, and developing a relationship with him. Having been Baptized and receiving the Gift of the Holy Ghost, does not automatically set one up with him, we are to seek and obtain it; the culmination of that is receiving our Baptism of Fire, then you actually have the companionship of the Holy Ghost; and begin your sanctification process toward, having your calling and election made sure and get to see Christ face t face, like Joseph Smith; very few make it to that point. One is not going to make it there, reading scripture, following leaders or the Prophets, if you don't develop a personal relationship with God, though Christ and the Holy Spirit.
Spiritual enlightenment and advancement is really nothing to with Church callings and now much you give in time and money, if is about seeking Christ, and learning to be like him, line upon line; that is really repentance, to give up our old self, our old views and doctrines, to accept his, only then can you be one with him, and the Godhead. As has been plainly said, often the most spiritual people seem out of set with the norm, that is because Gods ways are not mans and vise versa.
This leads to the Book of Mormon and the Tree of Life, and the Spacious Building; the Lord has shown me, that the Spacious Building is the Church, or more correctly I guess, those within it. One as well, only has to read 2 Nephi 28; with the realization that the Gentiles spoken of, are the Gentiles in the Church; the Book of Mormon was written to warn us, those who have the Book of Mormon, not those who don;t believe and have not read it. Nephi relates that we are a Gentile Church, once we have dropped into Apostasy, then the real gathering of the descendant of Nephi and Israel begins.
