Twill wakes early in the morning, going through his normal morning routine. He checks his equipment, answers the call of nature, then gathers his belongings and steps out to find the person he will be traveling with.
He stops on his way at the barrack stables and inquires as to the horse that they are to provide. When shown he will pack his belongins in the saddle bags then head off to find breakfast and his travelling companion.
Once found Twill introduces himself to the man and as the journey begins he talks lightly with his companion but keeps his eyes and ears open for any danger that may find them on the road.
A pair of merchants walk into a bar....
Boasting and bragging about a scam. What a pitiful waste of talent. Its not true thievery if anyone other then the criminal knows about the crime. These two needed to be taught a lesson.
"Hey there chums fancy playing a little game!?"
Caldric waltzed over to their table and pulled up a chair, plonking his pack down roughly next to him on the floor.
"Its a simple game of skill. You just have to crack a very simple code... Should be nice and simple for a pair of cunning fellows such as yourselves."
He spoke with daggered smiles, these gentlemen were what he liked to call 'easy marks'.

Krusten finds that he dog is perfectly fine and normal. She sleeps well and her rest goes uninterrupted. She waked up in the morning feeling very refreshed.
----------
Twill finds that his companion was already waiting at the stables. He is a rather large man and he appears to be armed with a rather large shield, spear, and axe. He wears medium weight armor.
When Twill introduces himself, the man replies, "Good day to ye! It will be best that we get on the road as soon as possible. Oh, by the way, I am called Khane."
The two of you saddle up and begin your journey. About halfway to the small town of Leth you come across a large trail of footprints. Will you investigate these and maybe follow them to where they lead? Or will you simply ignore them and continue on to Leth?
----------
Both of the half drunken merchants agree to play your game.
[Out of Character] You will have to elaborate on this game of yours, because I have never played or heard of Monkey Island 2.[Out of Character]
Twill looks up at the rather large man, thinking he was fortunate to travel with what looked to be a formidable man.
And a good day to thee, sir Khane, I am Twill Fleetfoot. I thank you for agreeing to let me ride with you to Leth.
Twill mounts up and with a nod to Khane and a pat to his horses neck, he moves out.
As the day progress, Twill passes the time conversing with Khane and sharing his story of the attack on his caravan and the slaughter of his peoples. He also shares his unfounded concern for the caravan that had left the other day.
When the two come across the tracks in the sands, Twill dismounts and begins to look around at the tracks and what mystery they might reveal. Without taking his eyes from the tracks Twill speaks to Khane.
Friend Khane, I am most distressed about these tracks, it appears something is amiss here. I know I was to ride with you to Leth, but I feel I must investigate what happened here. If there is trouble I need to help, there may even be clues to the those responsible for my own caravan. I know I have no right to, but I would like to ask for your help. There appears to be many, and though I have skills of my own, I am no fool and know my limits. If you feel you need to continue on, I will understand and no grudge will be held against you. I know you have your orders.
Twill takes his eyes off the sands to look up at the big man awaiting his answer.
"All right gents let's make this quick.
Caldric flashed two fingers into the air, these guys would make easy prey for him, and a fat adddition to his baank balance.
"If this is 3. What is this..."
The number showing changed to five, almost faster then these geniuses could see.
"Playing costs one gold coin. Think you can beat the odds?"

Out of Character: the game is easy. I show them one number, telling them what it is and show them a second number asking them to guess its value. Its value is the first number I showed them.

You are in the tavern room where you went to sleep.
----------
The large man smiles and replies, "Sure thing mah friend! I will take any chance I get to kill some orcs!"
Khane is prepared to follow you.
----------
Both of the drunken men agree to play your game.
[Out of Character:]Your rolls where good enough so that you can kind of play the seen out on your own. Please do so, as it would be much simpler that way.[Out of Character:]
With a wicked grin Twill says Khane my friend, I believe this is going to be the begining of a wonderful friendship. Twill mounts back up and leads his horse along the tracks. If need be he will stop frequently to check the trail.
