So if I do not wish to 'Sustain' a member who is called to a position, yet I have no documented proof of why I feel this way, all I need do is NOT raise my hand in either vote?
We are going to be getting a new Branch President soon, and 'rumor' has it that a certain family moved into the area 7 months ago in preparation to this calling. The Br. had been a Bishop in another area.
I have no concrete evidence or documentation, but I get the creepy crawlies every time I see this man. I have prayed about it, and prayed about it. I even went so far as to ask Heavenly Father to Banish this feeling from me. I still feel this absolute revulsion when I see him.
It isn't that I want some one else to be Branch President, the brethren in my Branch would all be great in this calling, except for this one person. I am even repulsed by his wife. Last sunday as I was talking to one Sister, the wife came up behind me and put her hand on my shoulder. Now, I could not see her, yet I nearly crawled out of my skin when I was touched and I KNEW it was her that was touching me.
What to do in this situation??
That is a tough one really, especially if it based on rumors. However you have to evaluate... is it just that you cannot connect with the person or are they unworthy as in breaking the law of chastity, speaking false doctrine, committing crime, abuser, etc? I know of plenty people in callings that I have very 'suspicious' characters, but I have no evidence concerning it or what I do know about them as hard evidence does not really stop them from receiving a call... if I feel very strong about it I approach the leaders, but it is important to make sure you are not letting personal feelings alone guide.
