U.S.A. Former US Congresswoman

Cynthia Mckinney

This Congresswoman from Georgia has been in the news quite a bit lately. On March 29, she was stopped by a security guard at Congress when she walked around a security checkpoint. She was NOT wearing a security badge to identify herself to the guards as a member of Congress. When she was stopped, she made a huge fuss, claiming that the white guard only stopped her because he, along with all the other guards are racist.

Later, it came out that she punched the guard. She is under Grand Jury investigation for assault.

Here is another little news story about her.

I think that she really thinks that she is some kind of royalty, just because she managed to get elected. She has always been a great embarrassment to the state of Georgia, claiming racism as the cause for just about everything under the sun. Now, she can't even take responsibility for her own words and actions.

Cynthia Mckinney also happens to be a premiere advocate for our freedoms and liberties in this country and has done much to push the investigations into Bush's rules and laws that many feel have violated our freedoms. Its interesting that several things immediately stated are simply one side of the story. For instance, she says that she was in a rush and when the officer physical grabbed her and turned her around her phone got whipped into the officers chest and was not a deliberate punch. The reason she claims harassment is because she hasn't been ID'd for some time and it appears (at least to her) that they simply didn't recognize her because of her new hair style (her words). Seeing that people have been attempting to screw her for a long time, I think giving her the benefit of the doubt is called for. Remember when it was reported that she said that Bush knew about 9/11 a year before it happened? It was all over the news, but the truth came out that she never said that, but it never made the front page. I will see what happens with this, people always go after the dangerous ones in Washington.

Cynthia Mckinney History & Civil Business Politics

Have you been following what she has SAID for the last few years? She apologized to the Saudi Arabians in the days following 9/11! Why? Because we said we didn't want blood money from them!

From what I have read of her statements, she is the most anti-US, anti-business, racist member of Congress. I seem to recall even Teddy Kennedy being embarrassed by her antics.

So, what did SHE have to say about this incident?
She was guilty of being "black in Congress."

The Atlanta Journal Constitution reported:

QUOTE
Several Capitol police officials have said the officer involved asked McKinney three times to stop. When she did not, he placed a hand on her and she hit him, they said.

McKinney, who previously had released a statement saying she "deeply regretted" the incident, avoided details Friday. She said lawyers had advised her not to because of the possibility of charges against her.

As she had previously, she acknowledged that when she was stopped, she wasn't wearing the special lapel pin given to the 435 House members to help police and staff recognize them. But she said the officer still should have recognized her because he was trained to do so.

The same day, she had gotten a radical new haircut (if you have seen pictures of it, it is REALLY radical - and, in my opinion, horrible). The security officer didn't recognize her. She wasn't wearing the security badge. He asked her 3 times to stop. When he stopped her, she hit him.

You claim that she is a leading advocate of freedom and liberty? Does that include the 2nd Amendment? Does that include secure borders? Does it include racial equality? I don't think so. She is a leading proponent of "reparations" to African-Americans. She is a leader of the "tax them till they collapse" Democrats.

She tried to go around a security checkpoint. Yes, members of Congress usually are able to do that. However, I really doubt that it is in the House Rules that all of them are exempt from security checks. She then assaulted the security guard when he tried to do his job.

You can apologize for her all you want. As far as I am concerned, she is a complete embarrassment to her district, to the state of Georgia, and to our nation. And she deserves to go to jail for assault.

I have to agree with Nighthawk here. Since the incident she has been all over the media claiming racism and prejudice has been enacted upon her. She gave a weak apology, but not for what she did, but for the fact that the incident occurred. So basically she is apologizing for the fact that an act of discrimination occurred. When you listen to her speak she seems almost crazy at times. Like Nighthawk mentioned, a lot of her fellow Democrats are not at all happy with her behavior over this incident. Plus she has no regard for the people that work for her.

I apologize for no one, and haven't apologized for he actions yet. But you are very obviously making a statement wrapped in your own bias. By using terms like "take till you collapse" democrats shows your complete bias towards her party preference.

She apologized to Saudi Arabian government officials be we NY turned down there offering of 10 million dollars towards the 9/11 victims! We don't want "blood money" from them? Last I checked we were blaming and going to war against Iraq and Afghanistan for the 9/11 bombings and didn't even look Saudi Arabia's way!

Then you come up with her having a "radical" hair style? Your lack of understanding of what is popular in the black community does not constitute something being radical. Different than what your used to does not mean radical either. Her hair style happens to be popular among black women.

Amendment II

A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

Your argument that she is against the 2nd amendment is pure interpretation. Most people for gun control (not me) feel that the militia is not longer needed to secure a free state. Thus gun control does not infringe upon that. She is merely using the 1st Amendment to voice her beliefs. And she considers gun control to fall under the "Well regulated militia" part of the amendment.

Yes she has been for racial equality. She feels that blacks have a harder time getting good jobs with the same requirements. Stats back her up and I agree with her. Watch the show Black/White of FX. Two familys, one white, one black, get made up as the other and get to see what the other goes through for a month. Its very eye opening. You will understand why she feels the way she does.

As for securing the borders, we don't all think that the best way is to close them and jail every illegal alien for a felony. She doesn't either. She believes that this country was built by open immigration. She is right, we were all immigrants at one point, or natives. Her ideas of securing the borders don't include your ideas, that doesn't mean they are wrong or that she doesn't have any ideas about it. In fact, some would say that a more open approach to immigration promotes freedom and liberty. That is her stance and I agree with her. I'm glad she can stand up against so many others standing against her. Being in the minority doesn't mean she is wrong.

You then go on to say she should go to jail for assault, which is still questionable compared to other recent things congressmen have gotten away with. Dick Cheney gets drunk and accidentally shots his friend and he doesn't even get a fine. Whats the difference? They both broke laws, just one of them didn't come close to killing someone. Sure its different, but if this was a republic we wouldn't see this kind of coverage, it happens quit often. I find that party people are ready to demonize one and rationalize the other depending on who they stand with.

The question that needs to be asked before jumping to conclusions is what would have happened if someone else had just walked through? Did she have a reasonably good reason to believe that she could just walk through the security check point? And what EXACTLY were her actions, not just saying she hit, but how did the hit come about, and do they really constitute assault? I haven't seen the tape, but I also haven't heard a detailed description of the alleged assault. Its just odd how so many people jumped on this before any real detail came out.

Well, we are certainly going to disagree about her. I think she is the worst thing to happen to our government since Jimmy Carter.

As for the rest, I guess we can wait for the results of the trial. After all, there were cameras there.

Is it REALLY smart to try to bypass security, then get mad at the security people for doing their jobs?

I wasn't criticizing her hairstyle (although I think it is beyond horrible - Phyllis Diller's was better). I was pointing out that it was radically different than what the guards were used to on her, and could have easily interfered with their recognition of her.

Well, Cynthia McKinney has lost her seat - again.

She lost by 11,000 votes, and claims that it was stolen from her. She claims that it was due to the fact that her district uses voting machines. And, since she just LOVES conspiracy theories, the evil George W. Bush is responsible for all of it.

Here is a great little commentary on the election results.
