Basically, the very outskirts of the zone arent too bad and there are mamals found there. However, there are a lot of genetic defects that are observed in the animals and a general thought that life expectancy for the animals has been compromised.
The documentary that I saw showed several times where the rentgoens jumped up if people shuffled their feet instead of picking up their feet. That was still very far from the plant itself.
