Here is something that may seem to fit in with other threads here about hair on the face, etc... but this one is in fact different. Do you think there should be a limit to dress styles or fads with regards to cross dressing? For instance, if a Brother came to Church with glossed nails would you feel uncomfortable with that? How about if a Sister came in a suit with tie like the executives do? There are some doctrinal points to it, but what are your general feelings.
Yeah, I would feel weird if they came dressed this way to church. I still think women should wear dresses to church and men should wear suits. However, outside of church women can wear whatever they want as long as it is modest and I have no problem with that. Neither does society generally. Men are not quite so fortunate. For example If LDS put on a suit and tie and JB put on a dress and they walked through the mall or a park separately, he would receive far more attention than she would.
Now, most women wearing suits are wearing women's suits. They are cut to fit a female figure. They may include pants rather than a dress, but it is still a woman's suit. A woman in a real man's suit would look strange. Not very flattering to her figure, for example.

It used to be quite acceptable (but not common), back in the 50's and 60's, for men to have manicured nails -- even buffed to a shine, for some.
These days, I'm sorry but it would disturb me to see a man with polished nails passing the sacrament, or a woman in a man's suit teaching Relief Society.
Now, actually cross-dressing? No. Sorry. Can't even begin to deal with it. That is so wrong on so many levels, it's just distressing to think about.

I think it comes down to the fact that at the gut level, we really do believe in certain "gender roles," especially related to the Priesthood. If we lived in a culture (Polynesian) where the men wore skirts, it wouldn't bother us so much, except that we wouldn't expect the man to also wear a bikini top, like the women do.
Every culture, throughout history, except for the modern Western culture, has had distinctive dress norms for the two sexes.
In eternity, there are distinct roles for the man and the woman. We do wickedness when we seek to change them in our lives.
