Sand Gravel Aquarium

It's just my personal opinion... But the gravel holds a lot more hidden waste that isn't churned up as easily as when the sand is used.

In a natural habitat such as the ocean, the sand works great, but this is because the ocean has more oxygen to keep the ocean floor clean and free from debris, but in an artificial setup such as the aquarium, I think that the gravel works the best.

I agree with you on the gravel It is very easy to take out the gravel and wash away the sediment and waste... You can't do that with sand at least not easily. I would probably use sand as well if I could get a fresh supply at each cleaning.

I have a 180 gallon tank and I would never consider sand unless I had only coral being raised. The gravel is way easier to keep clean. I also think it looks nicer.
