He is implying that if you set a number then you are at fault. |

He is not implying that if you plan to have children and prepare to do so you are at fault. |

If it were the letter of the law then Sisters would have a baby and then be pregnant again a couple of months after. |
QUOTE (LDS_Forever) |
Correct because you're supposed to welcome as many as Heavenly Father wants to send? |
QUOTE |
When husband and wife are physically able, they have the privilege and responsibility to bring children into the world and to nurture them. The decision of how many children to have and when to have them is a private matter for the husband and wife. |
The quote you provided (which is the official statement on the issue) states that is a private matter between the couple and the Lord, it does not mention anything else. Some brethren took the liberty to express various opinions, the one you referred to ("as many as we can provide for") contradicts past Church leaders who have mentioned health concerns as the only reason for a couple not to have kids or stop having more so I guess because everyone has a different concept on the issue the Church seem to have taken a neutral position on the matter, leaving up to the couple to decide but it's not new that the Church never encouraged/encourages birth control methods. Dozens of quotes on the issue.
If I receive personal and clear revelation from the Lord, I would do what He tells me to do. Who am I to tell the Lord he cannot ask me something against the law? His instructions and purposes always have a reason we may not understand or even agree.
My question was not about personal clear revelation. Personal clear revelation that would require you to break laws and other seemingly unorthodox approaches would be more than just a simple 'feeling'. This is not like the Lord asked Lehi to move from Jerusalem or Nephi to take the plates from Laban through killing him. The question is simple., what would you do.
So you are saying the Lord would ask you to go against the law of the land, risk imprisonment or an abortion for the sake of having more children? And if you, why not all the faithful mothers who also live in China and want to have more children and they felt the Lord want them to?
