I don't remember him being disfellowshipped |
Well, he was certainly retired from the Seventy at a young age and in a very quick manner. But, as I said, he certainly could have been disfellowshipped. I just don't remember hearing about it. But then, it could have happened while I was in Saudi Arabia for all I know, in which case it was old news by the time I got home.
I personally do not think nobody would invent such a story of sexual abuse against Lee just because he said what he said, only he and the Lord know the truth really and the fact that he did not plead innocent or 'not guilty' is obvious that there was some strong evidence against but if he really was innocent, why he will plead different? reading the reports from SLC tribune they said he plead guilty of the sexual crimes against him.
Paul H. Dunn oh gosh, how many stories he invented? He said he was using them as parables but he invented a whole bunch of things, between them that he was a baseball player on a major league, that his best friend died on his arms during World War II and the friend was not dead at the time (the friend said he was shocked when he heard his name). Anyhow, he was given the Emeritus Status for health reasons which was kind of interesting taking in consideration that there were so many general authorities with serious diceases who continue working. Anyhow, I suspect that he was disfellowshipped or put in probation. By the way, the nephew of Boyd K. Packer was the one who discovered the whole thing and the one that lost his job when he published his discoveries in the Arizona Republic.
We sort of moved on from the George P. Lee thing, but I was doing my own research and found his picture on the web:

Regarding George P. Lee---he was excommunicated for apostacy, speaking evil of the Lord's annointed. The sexual abuse allegations did not come out until after he was exed.
Not too long ago on another LDS related board, actually it is an anti mormon board but anyway a poster claimed he had proof from a reliable source that Elder Lee was now living in the St. George area and was being paid somewhere in the neighborhood of $50,000 per year by the church. Sort of a bribe. In exchange for the money, he is keeping quiet and not publicly sharing inside info on the church that would be very damaging. Again, this is from an aniti site so take that for what it may be.
Paul Dunn--- I never heard he was disfellowshipped but it would seem likely some kind of discipline would be proper.
Also, there was an apostle excommunicated in the 1940's---Richard Lyman I beleive is his name. He was exed for adultery but he was actually practicing Plural marriage. But in the 1940's they would be one and the same.
Makes you wonder if there are any currently in the Seventy like this. Sometimes you hear one being released and you wonder about the reason for it....
