The Book Of Jasher

It's been a few years, but I remember a radio show talking about how we have the translated to english from hebrew, Book of Jasher. In 70 AD the Romans sacked the temple and in the basement found a library of scrolls and a Jewish scholar. The Captain ordered his men to take the library including the librarian back to his home in Spain. In 1840 a Jewish scholar in Spain translates the Book of Jasher but is unable to find someone to publish in Europe or Great Britain. In New York the publisher of a prominent newspaper does publish it. Somehow Joseph Smith is shown a copy and he remarks that he sees nothing wrong in the translation. In 1880 it was published in Salt Lake City. There are several interesting events that actually make perfect sense, such as the animals that boarded the ark. There were groups of animals than showed up and they chose the pair to board the ark. About a week later it starts to rain and the animals have placed themselves around the ark, guarding it. The people in the area figure out that they need to get on the ark to save themselves. As they make the move towards the ark, the animals charge them (lions, rhinos, elephants, etc.) and drive them back. On board the ark Noah also has the Garment that Adam received in the garden of eden.

The Book Of Jasher Studies Doctrine Mormon

There are so many lost scrolls probably more than we can imagine who knows what they contain. Its so cool when discoveries like this are made but I'm always a bit reluctant about the accuracy of the translation.
