Deke enters the the university complex. It is laid out in a spoke and wheel pattern. In the center there is a tall spire around which encircles smaller minarets housing different wings within the university.
Deke finds his way to a large room lined from floor to ceiling with thousands of tomes and bound scrolls. There are several acolytes at study seated at a long table. Others wander the library's vast labyrinth of shelves.
If there are psions here, Deke has no way of telling.
One individual in particular catches his eye - a woman bearing a frail beauty with eyes like a dove. On a raised dais she frantically scribbles notes on an unrolled parchment.
As you approach she pays little attention to you.
Rather disoriented, Deke introduces himself and asks about odd jobs.
Without looking up she curtly says "every JOB here is handled by those worthy enough to become apprentices and even then apprentices must pay for sponsorship."
With an air of flippancy she says "if it's food and lodging you desire, you might consider the militia. Now, if there's nothing else you require, please do your begging elsewhere." Edited: Felthalas on 29th Aug, 2011 - 10:41am
Deke turns abruptly and walks away, used to harsh words when his autohypnosis performances fail. He heads over to the Militia HQ starting to get rather hungry(and for a psion this means he is so hungry he feels his energy dropping).
Exhausted, famished, and weary from his travels, Deke makes his way to the militia complex.
It is a massive granite structure with statues of the the Keep's greatest heroes.
Upon entering the complex, Deke finds himself surrounded by a flood of activity. Two elves are engaged in a hushed conversation near a glowing hearth, a tiny halfling sits atop a barrel of ale cheerfully blowing smoke rings with a long pipe, and two armor clad dwarves laugh boisterously amidst droughts from tall flagons.
As Deke makes his way into the main foyer, A guard approaches him and introduces himself. "I am the house steward here. Is there something you require?" Edited: Felthalas on 29th Aug, 2011 - 10:57am
The steward replies, "very good. Lord Benton is attending to other matters right now, but do make yourself comfortable."
Noting the glazed look in Deke's eyes and his dizzy stance, the steward remarks "our dining hall is this way if you wish to replenish yourself."
The steward replies "indeed we do sir. When his lordship is finished speaking with you I shall show you to your quarters."
Deke enters the dining hall and falls into a comfortable seat by the hearth. Laid out on a long table rests a platter of braised pheasant, freshly baked bread, a pitcher of ale, and various fruits.
Deke unabashedly fills his plate and soon his belly instantly feeling refreshed.
As Deke sips down the last drop of a pint of ale, he finds the steward standing at the entrance. Looking to you he says "Lord Benton will see you now.

Krusten is once again standing amidst the camp which is still fast asleep.
