Greetings iCon,

Any of those suggestions are fine, however if you do chose to pursue a more comedic route make sure it's not too over the top. For instance if your character is ALWAYS delivering one liners then that tends to get old very quickly.

I like the idea of having a psion in the game. If you DO choose to go that route, then feel free to choose between either the "Enhance Essence" OR "Impart Essence" Feat. Also, I would probably start your character out with a minor ability to sense Astral activity.

However, if you prefer to play your ranger, I'd need to know your level before making a definite decision. [I'm willing to allow it as long as the character is below level 4.]

Well then, the psion seems like the best bet. I was thinking along the lines of a telepath; a Derren Brown character who could read tiny facial expressions and has manifested psionic powers as he grew up. Less of an astral being, more of an ex-conman looking to progress his own power.

This ought to take a while unless I can find a character gen which has psions. Also, sleep.

That sounds fine.

Please be aware that the modified spell casting rules will apply to your character. This means your character disregards psionic points and can cast one psionic ability per attack phase plus one additional ability every 3 levels. Also your character will roll psionics as a standard attack action using your character level as a base attack bonus and use his or her intelligence modifier as a bonus.

Furthermore, rather than waiting an entire round to gain focus prior to casting psionics as per the 3.5 rule set, I will allow your character to make one single concentration check prior to the attack phase (should be rolled along with initiative) to determine his or her level of focus. This roll will also be used to hide any outward display that would be present when casting psionics.

As a side note, if your character wishes to use a lesser psi crystal as a mundane item for the Impart Essence feat, that is allowable.

Also, if you are looking for a good psionic character generator, you might try the javascript D&D 3.5 character generator I like to use. Just type in "pathguy" in your browser's search engine and you should be able to locate it.

Under my skills I see "listen" but I do not see "spot" or "look" so do I assume those are "0" bonus and listen is a bonus of 2? Also what is "ranks" is that my level? If you don't mind I will roll unmodified D20s and if you can be so kind to show me how you check using my character I think I will have it down for next time.

Here are the rolls I made:

D20: 16, 1, 1, 18, 19, 16

Hey there Krusten,

I'm sorry about that. You're correct. There is no "look" skill. Rather, I meant "listen" and "spot." If your character did not put any skills in "spot" then chances are you will not find it listed on your character sheet.

If that's the case what you will need to do is roll a d20 and add your wisdom modifier. It does however sound like you've put a couple ranks in "listen" so what you will need to do in that case is roll a d20 and add whatever skill ranks your character has plus your wisdom modifier.

Sorry about that. Does that help to clear things up?

The generator gave me a modifier for "listen" but no "spot" like this:

international QUOTE
hide 4 + 3 = 7
jump 4 + 1 = 5
listen 4 + -2 = 2
move silently 4 + 3 = 7
open lock 4 + 3 = 7
search 4 + -1 = 3
sleight of hand 4 + 3 = 7
swim 4 + 1 = 5
tumble 4 + 3 = 7
use rope 4 + 3 = 7

My wisdom has a modifier of -2

So based on that my rolls are (from above):

Listen: D20: 16, 1, 1, 18, 19, 16 (+2 -2 make it unchanged)
Spot: D20: 7, 10, 10, -1, 16, 0 (-2)

Do you need me to post this in the story?

Krusten,

If you're unsure of what your character's modifier is, then please refer to the following:

Ability Score: [Modifier:]

10-11 [0]
12-13 [1]
14-15 [2]
16-17 [3]
18-19 [4]
and so on.

Yes Krusten,

Please post your die rolls within the game thread. Thank you.

The generator makes the modifiers for me so there is no worries about that its just getting used to actual calculation. I might be Asian but I can be a blond at heart sometimes wink.gif. Thanks for your help.
