Are Demons Inherently Evil?

I have a hard time believing demons are inherently evil.

I always feel sympathy towards the demons that tempt men, even though my common sense says that I should be believing that they are truly evil.

I have researched and thought about this, and this is my argument (using mormon doctrine):

First, demons are created of God, and weren't originally demons, but human spirits.

Second, from everything I have studied, humans aren't inherently evil, but inherently good. This is supported by the statement that all men have the light of Christ (sorry, I really don't feel like going to the trouble of citing all my sources, finding specific scriptures, etc.). Think about people such as Mohammad, Mahatma Gandhi, Confucius, or Siddhartha Gautama. Many of their morals and values are similar to those of LDS beliefs. Just as humans physically take after their parents, they spiritually take after their parents--that is, our Heavenly Father and Mother.

Thirdly, when the war in heaven occurred, the spirits had a choice to follow either Christ or Lucifer. While the spirits had all the knowledge in the world, they had no experience. As far as I'm concerned, you can know most everything and still lack wisdom. In order to make a good decisions, you need wisdom rather than knowledge. James 1:5 says, "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God." Notice how he says wisdom, not knowledge. So really, the spirits that chose to follow Lucifer had no wisdom.

Fourthly, 2 Nephi states that the goal of the devil is to "Make all men miserable like unto himself". A flawed part of human nature is that when we are jealous of someone, we dislike or even hate them. Perhaps this is why Grendel destroyed Heorot-because he was jealous that he could not be joyful all day long. Wishing bad upon someone who has something you want is so very human, a flaw that unwise people commonly possess.

Fifthly, in the books Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, the apostles describe an event in Christ's mortal life: Christ came upon a man possessed by a legion of devils, and cast them out. The devils acknowledged that Jesus was the Christ. To me, it seems that the devils are like children who have made the wrong choice, and are being used as pawns, manipulated by Satan, and their naive hatred towards humans who have so much they lack.

Frankly, I find it very hard to believe that anything created of God- human or not human, is inherently evil, and I believe the same of demons. I would love responses to this, so please post your thoughts. And please note, I am not trying to defend demons and I am not goth.

Evil Inherently Demons Are

This is similar to what I was reading here about a week ago, Source 5 but you are focusing on the unseen ones. I can say this... If someone was stopping you from being happy and they were doing it on a daily basis... how would you feel about it and towards it? I doubt you would feel sympathy towards their actions.
