Would you buy a car based on it being considered "Green"?

Yes I would. I will be in the market for a new car in 2010 so I will probably start to look this coming year (2009) and see what is out there and look to see what is coming out so I can make a good decision based on fuel economy and the ability to use a greener fuel.

Would I buy a car that is 10 thousand more then its competitor because it pollutes less. I have my doubts unless the fuel savings is such that it has a 5 year payback.

I will be looking for a car in the next few years used most likely and unless a major change happens it will be a 4 cylinder gear box.

I am hoping in the next couple years people start letting some of the hybrid or other flex fuel vehicles come down in price. I am not sure it will happen but a guy can hope.

I think the way the government is going the truly green vehicles will not have much of a chance as with others in the past have shown.

I fear you are correct KNtoran politics might be a big problem. I would not advise a Hybrid used as who knows what the cost on replacing those batteries will be. My experience in batteries tells me 8 year max life likely closer to 6.

One of the obvious drawbacks about going green are the cars. We all know about the smart car (aka golf cart with a roof) which would lose in an accident with a tricycle, but now there is a new hot green car. Not excited? Not sure if this is the car they were referring to as it looks like a 2007 model possibly. It actually looks half decent though it is small. If going electric one should be able to have a full size sedan after all look at the other one being made.

I can tell you the more and more that I look at cars and trucks that are coming out today and in the next few months the more I am at a loss as to what I want to buy. I am looking hard at mileage and comfort. I do want one that can switch to 4 wheel drive. I am leaning more towards a truck or suv. having one that is green too would be a added bonus.
