Nicknames
Humans give other humans what is referred to as a 'nickname' or a name that is not their official name at birth. The reasons for this may stem from many reasons and can be considered both positive or negative.
What is your nickname and why were you given it?
NOTE: Not your online nickname, the one given you at work, school, home, etc.
Oh wow, I have been given so many different nicknames throughout my lifetime. Some of them are little silly ones from my fiance, and some of them actually have meaning behind them.
A nickname I was given in sports was Deer, and that was because I made a huge big deal about somebody tying a deer to a tree. We found out later it was a lawn ornament.
In high school I became "Momma" because I was the band mother.

My first name is just a letter F so this has led to many nicknames that begin with the letter F. Most of which are to base to be posted in the forum. :-) I also have a distinctive waddler / walk leading to the nickname duck which unfortunately also rimes with words that begin with F.
I once worked for a lady who began calling me "Patty Cakes" (who knows why?), then it was "Miss Cakes" and eventually devolved into "Cake." That ended, of course, when I left there, but it was a weird couple of years.
As far as I know, I didn't have any nicknames in high school or earlier years -- at least not that anyone said to my face
I've been given many names some by my mother others by friends or associates. Some of the Notiable ones are Termite, (my gf loves this one) when I was younger I would go in out of things with no problems so my mom called me that. Then there is Bowser, (from Shanana) I would stand like Bowser so she started calling me that.
Others are: Lobo, Mormon, Moroni, Alma, and some that I won't put on here. :-)
Back in my sophmore and junior years of high school, someone stuck me with the nickname of Picasso, because I was always drawing or doing projects with the Art Club, and I was taking a cartooning class at the local university. My senior year found me in a new high school however, so very few people called me by the old nickname after that.
When I ran for the Cross Country Team one of the junior varsity members of the squad nicknamed me "Zoom" which even ended up in the captions of some of my Yearbook photos...hahahaha....but I and my waistline are WAY past that sort of nickname now.
I think I've been responsible for giving more nicknames than I have received though, since I worked for 8 years in a government office as a Supervisor for a Call Center that serviced the entire state. With an ever-changing roster of 104-120 employees I had the tendency to try and differentiate between them, especially the ones with the same first names. So at one time I had a Big Terry, a Little Terry, a Phat Terry ( he had aspirations to being a rapper), and bald Terry, along with Fuzzy Jane, Baby Jane, and Quiet Jane as employees.
I don't actually have any nicknames! I was thinking and thinking and can't come up with anytime that I wasn't called by name. Maybe that explains some of my quirky personality? My daughter, though I used to call Angelfish and that got shortened to just Fish and Fishy and when I go pick her up at school she yells "Mama!" and I hollar back "Fish!" Her friends all ask her about it. That and Bunny because when she was just learning to stand, she'd hold on to the side of her crib and bounce-bounce-bounce and that stuck too. So, she's a cross between a bunny and a fish? Maybe she'll be in therapy next!
