What Is The Greatest Threat To Mormonism?
Name: Bo
Comments: Here is a question for Mormons.... What do you think is the greatest threat to the Mormon Church? I believe it is simply the truth. Many Mormons do not know the beliefs of the Mormon Church. I do not mean just the simple things they push like the Book of Mormon but the hidden things.
You could be right to a degree if members of the church really aren't living up to what is being taught then they are living a lie. At the same time the truth can set you free so it all depends on how you look at it.
What Is The Greatest Threat To Mormonism?
I would say the main 3 are ignorance, pride and apathy, but not necessarily in that order. Which all affects our relationship with God, with out a close relationship, we are just ships adrift. The greatest threat is from within, not from without. It is kmown, that the Lord will begin the cleansing in his own house or Church, before it goes to the world.
You are correct in part, not living the truths, but more, not seeking the truths and to live them. Most members seem to be living the basics, but like the words in the Word of Wisdom, this chapter in the D&C, it was written for even the weakest of Saints who could be called Saints. Most follow the basic don'ts, but to really advance, one has to follow the do's, and most often they come only from promptings from the Holy Ghost and your desire to change and live them. Following the don'ts, basically only gets you in the door of the church and keeps you there.
As it says in scripture, some say all is well in Zion, well all is not well in Zion, but it is moving forward, as Church leaders force us to be more involved, by allowing us to use more of our agency. For some, they see it as a chance to shove ahead, for some a chance to remain stuck happily on out path. The sad thing is, they may not even realize it, but fortunately it is not our Judgment, it is God's. I am glad for that, we are all each judged on what we know and understand, can't get much fairer then that. If we know better and do not, it might be a transgression or sin, but another, who knows not in any form, he will be judged less harshly. Though in the same vane, no man can be saved in ignorance.

Comments: Ask the LDS scholars that uncovered a lot of the truth of the church and were later disfellowshipped or excommunicated for it.
