I really do not think the origin of this word is know for fact. I have heard it was a shorten form of morhadike which is a different pronunciation of the word hermaphrodite. Then a bulldiker was most likely the term used prior dyke or dike for a lesbian, seems a bit of a stretch. It could be a play on the word dike meaning ditch or hole, being the female genitalia.

Any other thought out there on this origin?
