Dumb war leader? A guy who was able to carry a sinister plan, exterminate 10 million people AND on top of that have followers up to this day looks far from dumb to me.

Yes he was an extremely dumb war leader; he squandered manpower, opened new fronts before resolving another, changed war plans in middle of execution, actively attempted to circumvent the Wehrmacht, refused to listen to the advice of generals, adopted suicidal doctrines with regards to troop management, adopted suicidal tactical doctrines, and squandered resources. The Allies would have lost the war if it were not for Hitler.

Hitler and his command were extremely efficient at the act of extermination or genocide. The systematic abuse, torture, experimentation and finally execution of prisoners was truly devious and sick. It is the reason why "just following orders" is not an acceptable excuse anymore.

At the outset of WWII, the plans for land conquering were well done and executed. Poland resisted, but actually countries like Hungary were happy the Germans showed up to take over their government. Despite the "Sound of Music" representation, many Austrians weren't upset that the Germans came over. It is when the Italians fail in Africa and Hitler cannot let go of a planned Russian invasion that his (and at this time he listened to very few but his own voices) decisions become bizarre to say the least. It is also around this time when the concentration camps switch to extermination camps and the Final Solution was put into action. It is widely debated on when this entered Hitler's mind, but it really did not go into full effect until '42.

Sending men to a Russian Front with no plans on getting them clothing and supplies for the winter ahead was idiocy (as he expected to march right up to Moscow), as was the plan to open up such a front. There were German soldiers found dead from freezing to death wearing summer uniforms. He had a agreement (that obviously the Russians were willing to follow) that they would not attack each other, but he did it anyway. Had he given those troops to a full out land attack on England or better yet, let Rommel have them to secure the Suez and northern Africa. Give Rommel what he needed and secure N. Africa and the Suez and then ask for a peace treaty as you mass up troop for a England invasion. Chances are, in that situation, the world would look WAY different that it does today.

He didn't even need the Suez to become the biggest thing in Europe! All he need was a treaty to keep it and there are indications that the allies would have given him one.

If he could have just stopped himself, before running into Russia, signed a treaty with everyone and restocked for a few years or just been satisfied with getting back the land he had taken (the parts he thought were truly German) and then some, the world might not know a UN, War Crimes Tribunals, America may have reverted back to isolationism, what would have happened to the Jews if he had not implemented the "Final Solution" ,but rather dumped them off on the Soviets, Swedes, Swiss, Spanish, Turks or Spanish or even the US? There would be no Israel. The "Final Solution" required war.

At the end, his military strategy was ridiculous to say the least. It was merely a war of attrition at the end and their numbers weren't being replenished and the allies were (as evidence of the children German soldiers at the very end of the war) able to purely out number them and had more skilled officers on the ground. The German officers has been either killed in action or by the government towards the end.

Hilter was a mastermind at Evil. The cold calculating way of a planned extermination of a race is horrific. The use of prisoners for "scientific experiments" was simply torture of the highest degree accompanied with a stethoscope. Orwell said it best...absolute power corrupts absolutely.
Hitler just took it to a unfathomable level.

A briliant mind, but he was surrounded by traitors. If he had the backing he needed then we wouldn't be sharing the world with so many losers now.

Where would we be then in your opinion, instead of sharing the world with different cultures/people in which you call losers?

I am interested in reading what your vision of a perfect world would be and if you think it will be accomplished in another time and place by another with a "brilliant mind"?

I am assuming as well that you do not think that he had any evil plans that were carried out? I am sad at the loss of life he took and the torment that others lived in because of him. What saddens you if anything?

Where would we be? We wouldn't be sending our precious children to fight in sub nations and worrying if some arab guy is going to blow up towers. We would be united and focused on one objection as one nation.

Your right, we would be under a brutal totaltarian ruler who killed everyone not like him. We would be living in misery and squalor instead of such a great country. You forget that Hitler is the reason his country was in poverty for decades afterwards! His actions are the reason they were hated by the rest of the world! There isn't just one race in this world True White! Hitler was a fool, and arrogant twit, and an ignorant racist, and top that off, he was to cocky in war to win when he had the resources! He was surrounded by traitors, he was surrounded by people who didn't have the knowledge to know he was stretching his forces to thin! Then he committed suicide, which made him a coward as well!

Hitler was managing a war state, it was like a state of emergency constantly, you cannot expect everything to be like if it is peace time. After the war was over there was going to be a grand construction phase where everyone will be involved.
