It seems like many of the science threads are drifting towards the debate over evolution, so I wanted to bring this thread back to life to bring those threads back to topic.

Everything seems to fit together too nicely like it was by design. You don't just take a bunch of boards, throw them in the air and get a house. |
EVOLUTION, RELIGION ENTWINED
On July 10, it will be exactly 80 years since John Scopes went on trial, charged with teaching evolution as briefly set forth in "A Civic Biology Presented in Problems" by George W. Hunter.

I believe it a much more likely prospect to be a mixture between the two. God only said that he created Adam and Eve. Not how he went about doing it. He says he created all things in 6 days and rested on the 7th. Later in the OT we are told that with God a day is as a thousand years and a thousand years is as a day...
You can not claim (if you have a shred of sanity) that dinosaurs did not exist. It is very possible, even plausible that those creatures evolved into creatures you see today, but that the changes were so minute and stretched over such a large period of time that the changes were near unnoticed.
As far as man from ape. I percieve that to be hogwash. Yes, we most likely did come from the same ancestor... somewhere far back along that line.
I do believe God created us. Evolution sure it happens but it takes a long time and does not form new species but just a modified species. As far as dinosaurs go I have never read in any scripture saying they did not exist. Though it does say animals were on the earth prior man. Thus no conflict that I can see.
If one looks at most religions or beliefs a common thread is a greater being creating this place we call earth and the peoples on it. I think that in its self is very strong evidence against the idea that we evolved from apes.
I recall the carbon dating techniques we use being question by scientist back 8 years ago and some one claiming it was off by a factor of 10 or 100 times thus a 100000 years soon becomes 1000. I thought it was interesting when I read it as it seemed to make dates match more closely to the idea of 1000 years on earth is 1 day in heaven.
