No, I do not think that you should wait. If you are serious about getting married then you should be serious about looking for a home and buying one. If things do not work out then you will just have to work them out in the divorce. Why rent and have nothing to show for it?

If you can have your own debt free home from the very start of your marriage then you have cut out about half of all your marriage worries because money affects your marriage. Now this is a rare scenario but if you can't afford it go for a fixed mortgage on a humble property to begin and then expand later rather than try to go big time from the start.
