46 bombs explode in 30 minutes across Thailand By Elsa McLaren and agencies Forty-six bombs exploded within less than half an hour, killing two people and wounding 21, across southern Thailand today. One of the homemade devices went off at government offices in Yala minutes before Deputy Prime Minister Chitchai Wannasathit was due to arrive for an official visit. The attacks are believed to have been carried out by Muslim insurgents who have mounted a long-running but largely hidden campaign for independence of the country's three most southern provinces. The blasts went off between 8.30am and 9am local time, as people headed to work in the three Muslim-majority regions of Narathiwat, Pattani and Yala, said government officials. Both fatalities occurred in the Pattani province. |

Education officials said that many schools in the region cancelled classes and sent students home amid concerns for their safety. Schools and teachers, viewed by insurgents as symbols of authority, are frequent targets of violence. |

Published: 24/03/2007 12:00 AM (UAE) Bin Laden 'won war against West' By Duraid Al Baik, Foreign Editor Dubai: A leading expert on terrorism believes Osama Bin Laden has already won the war against the West and warned if politicians fail to come up with a coherent plan to deal with the threat, the future was bleak. Nikola Zlobin, Director of Russian and Asian Programmes at the Washington-based World Security Institute believes attempts to contain the threat of terrorism had been botched. "Social and financial resources allocated to fight terrorism are depleting quickly. The quality of life for people in the western world is declining steadily and the war seems to be endless," he said. "The influence of Al Qaida is expanding geographically and demographically and negotiations with Al Qaida might be necessary rather than fighting its ghost fighters across the globe." |
Rather off topic, but... Interesting. I'm still not sure who "they" are, but it's an interesting site.

They're saying on breaking news that some woman from Yemen mailed two of the packages but I bet whe wasn't directly behind it. How stupid it would be to mail two bombs and then leave your name and address so they can find you.
