Diplomatic Immunity

Some countries allow diplomats to live within their society with something called, 'Diplomatic Immunity' which allows them to not be hindered by the law. The hope for this is the host country expects the same for their diplomats in the guest country. Some people are against this because they feel it allows a lot of criminal activity. What do you think about it?

There are definite, horrible abuses of "diplomatic immunity". A fictionalized account of some abuses is detailed in the movie Lethal Weapon II.

However, I do understand that it is a very important part of state-to-state relations. Without it, diplomats can, and will be, harassed, arrested for things that their countries do, and may find it very difficult to deal with different cultures.
