Yes, soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines are all people. Sometimes bad people get through even the most stringent training, psychological examination, and background check processes. Just like society as a whole this can happen, even in the SEALs. But I'd venture to say this is exceedingly rare in these types of units… even rarer than in general society due to the care with which we are chosen and trained.
Yes, the military will deal with this swiftly and harshly. If found guilty he'll go to Leavenworth for a long time. And the military still has hard labor as a sentence. So he will be there for a long time making little rocks out of big ones six days a week.
There is nothing human about child molestation, he sounds like a sociopath that needs a psych evaluation in addition to time behind bars. Let's not forget this about the victims and not the perpetrator no matter his background but the fact is the military has a big problem with sexual exploitation and it needs to be dealt with now.

Bounty,
I hear what you are saying but in fact he is human. What I'm saying is this type of activity is not endemic in the military. Nor is sexual exploitation. That happens everywhere in our society. The military just happens to have a lot more exposure. And please don't get me wrong, I know the problems in the military, few better. I also know that things like this and sexual exploitation destroy morale. I'm all for putting this guy away and throwing away the key. As far as psychological examination, he's gone through it… which makes me think he's a sociopath because only a sociopath could pass that type of evaluation and this not be found. Perhaps the military needs to do a better job in identifying sociopathic behavior. And believe me, not one word I posted did I forget about the victims. Which is why I said the military will deal with this swiftly and harshly.
