No tears lost over Maradona in England. He is a cheat and a man of no moral standing

Maradona Diego

Roker, I read your comment and then watched your flag and I knew immediately that you come from England laugh.gif Anyhow, even though Diego Maradona may not be a person of moral standing because of some choices he made in his life, nobody can deny that he was one of the greatest (if not the greatest) football player in history of football. The second goal against your country in Mexico 86 (yes, the goal after the one with the hand) still consider by FIFA as the best goal in the history of football. Nobody can deny that, if anybody denies that this guy had a great talent, is fooling himself/herself or just do not want to accept the truth.

He is not as good as Pele. Pele played with sportsmanship too...sadly lacking with Maradona. Pele is now an ambassador for foothall, and Maradona is ?

I don't understand the connection between Pele being an Ambassador of football have to do with whether he was better than Maradona spock.gif Both of them were players in different times, with different teams with different talents. Yes, I think Maradona had great talent even more than Pele and that's just my personal opinion but I do not think judging his life outsidefootball should be a tool used to judge his talent.

Pele was a much more graceful player. In addition he would have said he handled the ball..no crap like Maradonas hand of god. There is a lot of hype surrounding Maradona...when if you look at him closely he was not that brilliant

Roker, all the last statements you made is just a matter of opinion wink.gif If you think Pele was a greater player than Diego, good for you.

Maradona's hand ball is not a matter of opinion it is a fact. If Maradona was a great player he would have owned up.
Also if the match had been played in Europe the officials would have given it as handball. Thats a fact too

If any of the modern day players of today were great, including just about every Englishmen, then they wouldn't dive, right?

What is your point Roker?

Players today cheat far more than Maradona ever did. They deliberately dive to milk penalties. They feign injury to fool the ref. They waste time and do anything possible to get an advantage. That is the reality of football today. If FIFA wants to crack down on it then they can, but they choose not too.

As for Maradona. I agree Pele was a more complete player. But Maradona is the second best in history if you look at sheer brilliance and the ability of one player to win a game. And I'm talking on the international stage here. There is certainly no English player that can compare, even from the Busby babes.

You are just bitter because he destroyed England in that one game. Get over it mate. England lose in a lot of sports, you should be use to it by now.

Let me remind you that Maradona, and Argentina, are normally better at football than England. This doesn't mean that either country doesn't produce better individual talent from time to time. Look at Stevie G right now, easily one of the top midfiled generals going around.

As for Maradona's drug habit. Britain's "Best" attacking weapon in history also had a drug problem, right?
