Don't worry, I'll be sure to let you know when I go to Olive Garden sometime this week. Oh yeah, and I had some Taco Bell yesterday, man it was good!

Olive Garden is good and there are many cheat recipes on the net to prepare their dishes, the same with Taco Bell (I made tacos at home quiet often) the point is....are you going to try to make doubles or roti or curry or callallou and BBQ chicken??? (Trini style)...THAT'S the key here *chuckles* wink.gif

Yes Dawn, LDS_forever takes great pleasure in torturing me about Trinidad food since she knows I am far away from it, but it is all in good fun. Thanks for asking about my wife's recent fall and mine's. We are both doing well; my wife still has a bruise and I really don't have any aftereffects. This weekend is bitterly cold here in Minnesota. Saturday the high was about -1F and today high will be around 3F. This is before the wind chill factor so we will be in negative numbers for the entire weekend. My daughter is off from school on Monday because of Martin Luther King day so I will be home in the evening. Today I plan on watching the rest of the NFL Playoff games and not much more.

Hey, man, I hear it is pretty darn cold in Minnesota about now. That is where you live. right? I heard one place this morning was at -54 F. That was actual air temperature, not including wind chill! I can't even imagine such a thing.

How you do stay warm? I don't think my truck's heater could keep up nor the heater in my house. I think it would be so cold outside that I wouldn't be able to keep it comfortable inside.

Yeah, that was up north around International Falls. I live in the Southern part of Minnesota. The coldest it has been here so far without wind chill is -10F. We keep our house around 67F so it is cranking a lot. The cars have started up ok, although after sitting out overnight, they can sometimes take a bit to start, but they do start eventually. The coldest it has ever been where I am at is -42F and that was long before I moved here. I hope it never gets to even close that temperature while I am still here.

Malexander Introduction

WIMPS!!!!

I lived in Grand Rapids, MN, for 4 winters! Measly -42. That was a warm day!

On Christmas day, it was -50. For over 6 consecutive weeks, it never got to 0. For 4 of those weeks, it never got to -20. For two straight weeks, the daily high temp was below -40! And the children went out to play in the snow while it was like that!

Actually, the recorded low that winter was -63, without wind. Fortunately, when it was that cold, we hardly ever got more than a slight hint of breeze.

It did make for gorgeous days, though. It was so cold that the humidity froze right out of the air, so there were all these sparkly bits of ice floating in the bright, bright sunshine. Down wind from the paper mill, all the trees were completely covered with hoarfrost.

When it gets that cold, the ice in the lakes could be well over 12" thick. They drive huge trucks out onto the ice to set up the ice fishing villages.

So, suck it in, and enjoy the weather! At least you get to see the sun once in a while. It is rare that we see the sun in the winter here in Michigan, and the cold is WET!

I will be the first to admit that I am a wimp! I'm a Caribbean boy and then I moved to Florida. I am getting used to the weather here in Minnesota though; just the other day it was in the 20s and I was thinking how nice it was outside. However I could not imagine being in -40 or below weather.

I just read your blog about the snow. It just started to snow here. We are supposed to get 12-24 inches. The weather channel has predicted up to 20" for Marlborough, which is the city I live in. It is supposed to be so bad that my church has already cancelled the meetings for tomorrow morning. Fortunately, I own a pretty good snow blower. I will only have to shovel the front steps. Everything else can be done with the snow blower.

My dog is a miniature dachshund. I have to snow blow a path for him to use for his "potty" needs because his legs are only a few inches long! laugh.gif
