Westmoorings Burglaries

TV6 News reported that there have been a number of burglaries in Westmoorings and today the police may have caught the San Juan man behind all of them. It is alleged when caught by policemen who were investigating another burglary in the area that the burglar attempted to stab them with a knife and they responded by shooting him - he is now in hospital. Even if you are in Westmoorings you are not immune from crime In Trinidad.

We have been having problems in Westmoorings for a long time now and I don't think is going to get any better. I am glad that a lot of my neighbours have weapons to defend themselves otherwise I don't know what we would do.

Hi John, no there aren't any "bad" areas in Westmoorings and that's why I love my neighborhood so much. There are more desirable parts than others sure but all still Westmoorings.

I am sorry to hear about the Westmoorings issue but it is the place for those who are white mainly to live where they remain isolated and mistrustful of the rest of the society who has the potential to treat them really good because there are indeed good people here. I happen to be one of them by the way.

Yes there is more good in Westmoorings I can assure you of.

I am glad you wish to buy real estate but this reminds me that with the issue of real estate preference should always go FIRST to the LOCALS since they are the native inhabitants of the land and they deserve the greater Respect in that regard. It reminds me of Barbados where the land prices are only for the foreigners and the Locals cannot even get the chance to buy their own land within the very country that they live in.

What A Shame and this seems to be happening in Tobago and should be curtailed somewhat. The Locals have a right to THEIR land and always will have such a right because it is THEIR country.

As for the crime-perhaps a greater police presence is needed and more safety protocols need to be taken like not staying out late or hiring extra security.

Are you for real? Is it that you have an agenda against local whites or what? There are people of all races living in West Moorings. I hate when people stereotype my area like that.

John, you are welcome to West Moorings anytime you want and we don't care which country you was born because here in Trinidad "every creed and race find an equal place". Don't worry about the crime here, yes we do have some issues but it's not as bad as other areas.

I think it was about a year or more ago everyone was worried that Westmoorings was being targeted but things are better now and I haven't heard of any major crime in the area for a long time.

Apparently they caught the thief concerned with this and his name is believed to be "Spider", well at least according to Rickie Ramdass' report in the Trinidad Express. Police say this is the man that has been orchestrating the robberies up there.
